Well, new stock wires are over USD150 here. I got a price of $69 plus $42 dollars USPS shipping from Speed 6 for some magnecors. I am not sure how they get the shipping cost at $42 that relates to a nearly 7 pound parcel!

Yeah, looks like I will get them sorted from Speed 6. Chris seems like a pretty good guy to deal with, and was the first business to reply. I more need them (and the down pipe gaskets) ASAP, and at least he has them in stock...

That USPS rate from the States to New Zealand sounds about right for 1 week delivery of a package close to 7 pounds. Try pricing it with UPS or FedEx for a real shocker! And USPS is about the only game in town unless you are shipping a lot of stuff in your own container on the aircraft. Even if you ship it by slow boat you won't get a 7 pound package down under $25.

I don't know what ignition wires would come in at but my guess would be well under 7 lbs. My headlight upgrade wiring harness, just the wires which should be heavier than ignition wires, comes in at 4 lbs in a box with packing peanuts.
I just used 7 lbs as that was the figure you threw out. Also if they pack the wires in a big box and use crushed up newspaper rather than peanuts you can add weight pretty darn quick. Maybe they were planning on sending your wires to you via the Moon so are planning on a wooden shipping crate.![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
So for 4 pounds it would be $25 plus whatever the want for packing supplies and sending someone over to the post office to stand in line. That can take forever here in the States and is why a lot of companies just plain refuse to ship packages via USPS. Too much labor time involved.

I got the 7 pound weight as that was the weight which corresponded to the shipping expense. They confirmed the weight as approx 7 pounds. I guess I will see when the package arrives! Just getting down pipe gasket prices with them also.
