There is good info on oil cooling at 944oilcooling.com

The oil flow is from pump to thermostat, to cooler/coolers, to filter to engine vitals. Filter is last thing before oil is used.

Hope this helps.

I mean specifically, where on the filter plate does the return line enter the block, which line is it. I have a cooler plumbed in line with the stock one and I didn't do the installation, but I want to install a -12 temp sender block in the return line but I don't know which one it is.

I saw some drain plugs on Ebay with the Oil Temp sender already built in
for like $20. Maybe not the best place to measure but beta then notin.

Is there any reason why the Greddy oil filter block adapter won't work? I've test fitted the unit in my 86' 951 and it fit perfectly. I haven't had any reason to use it (the car is mostly stock). I guess I'm wondering if there would be any flow issues. Seems like it would be a simple solution to addin a oil temp sensor, oil pressure sensor. The block adapter has three plugs: M12 and a couple of 1/8pt.

Sean,

That is a very cool product. I did some quick checking and the 20 mm thread it has will work for our car, so as long as the o-ring is the right size - 2-5/8 according to Canton Filters website, and the o-ring is rated for the 5 bar oil pressure our cars see then there shouldn't be a problem. Anyone out there tried one of these.

Have you run the car with it or just test fitted it?

Good stuff- thanks,
