Default What rotors do I have? And other part questions...

I was told that the car has big reds which looks like I do, but what 2 piece rotors are these?

What tubular arms are they?

What do people do for a bump steer kit with a manual rack?

Sorry but I bought this as a rolling chassis sight unseen, just pictures, with no real info besides the pictures.

Thanks all
Pete

The discs -might- be from a 993 turbo.
Supposedly they fit using an '86 spindle (?).
'87 on, I know they don't fit.
Someone will be able to ID the control arms with some better pics.

They are 87+ spindles with abs and it has a proportioning valve next to the shifter.

LCA. my best guess, a race shop fabricated these with a hemi joint to mount spindle and adjust for camber. This fab is how race shops did things back in the day when race parts where not available from retailers. These are just fine. I would check the hemi joint spherical bearing for play and ability for misalignment from full bump to full bounce. Also check bolt used for attaching spindle to hemi joint, might want to replace if any question because a high stress area in shear. If replace, find 10.9 bolt made in Germany if metric or Grade 8 bolt made in USA if American Standard.

Post photo of the hemi joint/spindle attachment.

The rotor hats look like 993 Turbo (a picture from the side would help), but the discs are not 993 TT since they are not "drilled," so could be some type of aftermarket disc. I have a slightly used set of 993 TT rotors in case you need any. If you could supply a measurement from the face of the disc to the top of the hat I could compare to mine. As I recall, the difference in offset between 993 TT and normal 944 Turbo is about 5 mm. Since you are using adapters for the big reds that difference might have been accounted for in the design.

Thinking through my 993tt disc fitment issues... I forget which way they're offset compared to the 928 GTS discs that do fit.
I believe they pushed the caliper out toward the rim, requiring wheel spacers that put the rim outside of the fender (Nice look!).
If that was the case, then rims with more offset would allow 993tt discs.
Measuring the discs will tell. I have a brand new set on the shelf to compare!
Not drilled? Might be some brand of aftermarket?
I'd like to see some more pics of the car. looks like a nice project!

I have some pictures I took comparing stock 993 TT rotors and 993 TT rotors fitted with Kokeln hats to achieve stock 944 offset. The stock 993 TT rotors do move the disc out towards the rim, which means if you want the caliper in the correct position the axial to radial mounting adapters need to move the calipers the same distance. This does change the caliper to wheel clearance but probably would not result in interference as there's quite a bit of clearance with stock offset parts.

BTW, if anyone could use a new set of 993 TT size front brake pads I have a new set of Pagid Orange.

2 piece steel hat.

They measure 322.75mm x 32mm. 10 bolts holding to the hat

So if I ordered race pads what year model would I order for?

Any model that uses big black or big red calipers, such as 1995-1998 993 Turbo, 1990-1994 C2 3.6 Turbo, 928 GTS.

The steel hats in your picture look like 993 Turbo, but the discs are aftermarket.

Dual disk tilton 7.25"

Funny part is that the torque tube, bell housing, clutch and aluminum flywheel was not even mentioned in the deal. It was just sitting in the car when I got it..
