Default Death Wobble

Recently purchased an 89 Turbo. 88k original stock suspension. Recently I lowered the front and rear. Note: To get the front ride heigth equal I had to lower the pass. side a full 1/4" on the strut. Is that a indicator of bad strut? something else? Anyway I have new 18" Potenza RE71R great balancing and alignment smooth at any speed had it up to 140 no issues. Since then I installed a Joe Toth Composites Track version splitter and had it up to 100 no issues. Today I was going to stretch her legs and at 120 I got the death wobble. Same road as prior tests. Could the install of splitter have any relevance? I've had other splitters before without issue on 87&88 951's. Assuming the extra downforce is unrelated what steering/suspension components would most likely cause my issue. This is unfamiliar territory for me. This is the first time in 20 yrs of 951's to have this happen. Glen if you read this your thoughts?

Tie rod ends and ball joints good??

You could always remove the splitter (if not too difficult) and repeat the test to see if the issue persists.

When you stand to the side of the steer tire & place the bottom of your foot on the top of the tire
and then jerk/push kick the tire, does it clunk?

I'm assuming tire needs to be off the floor? If it clunks what does that indicate?

Can you clarify what exactly you mean by "death wobble"? Steering wheel shaking, or whole car oscillating, or something else? Also, can you post your alignment specs?

No, doesn't need to be off the floor. Clunk would usually be wheel bearings, but could be other things.

I'd be willing to bet that you have play in the inner tie rod ball and socket joints as well.

You should get entire tie rod assemblies and steering rack boots. Lemforder brand is fine.

Will I think I found the issue causing my problem. While testing for tie rod and wheel bearing play passenger side front strut moves up about an inch or so before any resistance is felt. ie: Strut is bad. Looking to replace both right and left struts. Will the Paragon rebuildable conversion with new lowering springs be a decent replacement? I have a set of 474 cores for rebuild. Other reasonable options?

Truechoice can rebuild the struts for you. This will keep it stock. Just another option.
