Default Car back from Bodyshop, a pic or 3...

Got it back today, snapped a few quick pics. More to follow once its back in Indy with clear front lenses mounted and the heat tape cut/installed on the rear bumper:

New Euro nose, Gt Splitter, Washer Caps delete, all dents removed from rear end, delete rear porsche script and turbo badge (although that might find its way back on) Im not 100% happy but that will be remedied with some touch ups and wetsanding. I have to say I like the AIR splitter better but this should hold up better-they did a very nice job with the splitter. It looks perfect and apparently it was kinda rough? (I never saw it)

Sam,

Your car looks great, thank's for the motivation. I have been working on my 951 for the last several weeks. and I'm very close to finishing.

I am lucky as my car was straight with good paint. I just this evening got my hood w/a factory 931 NACA duct installed on the drivers side in primer, AIR splitter in primer, GT racing rear bumper in primer, deleted flag mirrors w/ new Engelmann Monza mirrors in primer, and a factory 968 rear wing w/ brake light delete in primer, intercooler vent in the original header panel in primer with aluminum ducting. I have over 40 hours in fitting, fabricating and prep work.

The only nerve racking part was cutting into a perfect hood to fit the NACA duct, but I think it is going to work out just fine.

Tomorrow I will wet sand and squirt some paint.

Good luck, and I hope you have many "chip" free miles.

"deleted flag mirrors w/ new Engelmann Monza mirrors in primer"

I've very curious to see what those are like. I wanted to get new mirrors for my car, but didn't necessarily want the 968s.

Nice Sam, really like your rear wing too. Did you think about going with 968 mirrors?

West Coast,

Boy I miss living in CA.........In New Jersey the winter never ends.

Engelmann (note correction) "Manta" not Monza mirrors. Very light and in my opinion handsome, were used on BMW M1 factory race cars, not street cars. Check this web site,

homepage.ntlworld.com/andrew.bishop30/novalution/mirrors.htm

They unfortunately are not cheap, but they only weigh about 1/2 lb, maybe less. The shape compliments the 944 and you won't see them on every street corner. I'll post pictures when I'm finished, as I had to order new mounting brackets from England and I am waiting for them to arrive.

That's funny, I found that page with google, and was wondering if those were the ones. 100 pounds is less than $200... that's not insanely pricey. Look forward to seeing some pics.

*edit* http://www.duruer.de/Bilder/Autos/BM...ie/m1%2001.jpg - Are those the same ones on that M1? I like that shape quite a bit.

very nice Sam! the rear sidemarkers look a little out of place now, but it's too late to fix that. I also liked your AIR splitter better. Nonetheless the car looks very nice.

In a few weeks you'll see very similar photos from me. (AIR splitter, sidemarkers gone, 968 mirrors and handles, and TWO hoods, one stock, one "heavily modified" for cooling.

West Coast,

Yes those are the same mirrors I have. I think $100 is a little strong for an injection molded mirror that is not much different in construction and quality than a Vitaloni Torando etc. at half the price or less. But I think they are perfect for a 951, so like beautiful women.....$

Sam,
The car looks great - can't wait to see it. Bring it over when you get it to Indy - I'll be working on the track car for the next 2 Saturdays trying to get everything ready for the Mid-Ohio event.
Cheers,
Rick

Was it difficult fitting it in? How did you attach? Any ubstructions underhood that it would hit?

Please post pictures. I'm interested in this mod.
