Is it crazy abnormal to have caster different from one side to the other? You can see in the pictures they aren't close. Car went straight before and felt decent, but my control arm ball joints were shot so who knows. I guess I can put them back in the way they were and see how it does with new joints.

You have loosened different parts of the caster mounts. Take this opportunity to replace the mounts with the current 968 parts.

It’s normal for them to be different. Wyit do as cruise98 says and throw those ancient design mounts in the trash and fit the updated 968 versions.

Like Mike said, it's normal for the angles of the caster eccentrics to be different side to side, even if the measured caster values are dead even on both sides. While the 944 is a well-made car, there are permissible tolerances during production, and the cumulative effect is that things like camber and caster might require slightly different adjustments to be equal on both sides.

One area where the adjustment should be exactly the same side to side is the front toe---the tie rods should both be the exact same length. If not, then the steering rack wasn't centered during the toe adjustment, which results in a different steering axis inclination (SAI) side to side.
