hey there - i’m hopefully landing a 1986 944T soon. what did you end up going with?

ive always wanted fuchs but don’t want to pay for wheels that are 1/3 the cost of the car, so i’m pretty sure i’m going to pick these up and run a square setup (its coming with 225/45 on 17s all around):

You're going to want more rubber in the rear than 225's on a turbo. Those Maxlite wheels are pretty cool but why don't they make a wider 17"? Nice price too; wonder what they weigh?

What wheels is the car coming with?

Anyone have pictures with the 17' Maxilite Fuchs style wheels on? The Braid 17' Fuchs style Wheels are much more expensive.

The Maxilite are cast and the Braid are semi-forged, so only the centers are forged on the Braid and the rim is then welded to the centers.

Both are surprisingly light and strong and they are also both TÜV/FIA approved. Not quite up to Fuchs standards but then the cost is lower and new Fuchs in 17” size are not the same design as the originals so there is that.

and worth noting we’re talking about a SIGNIFICANT cost difference. 4 Maxilites are under 1K vs 1k for ONE Braid wheel (or more in the case of Fuchs).

If money were no object...

But if you’re talking about getting a 10-15K 951, hard for me at least to justify spending 4K on rims alone.

I have an 86 951 and I went with 18”speedline wheels. 9 inch front and 10 inch rear width. Tire size 245/35/18 front and 275/35/18 rear. 7mm spacers in the front. OEM Porsche 21mm spacers in the rear with 10x66mm studs.

Considering these for the 944 turbo project. Love the updated look and can be built to spec.

I don't believe that the Magnus fiteen52 wheels are being made anymore.

Anyone know if this combo works for an 86 951?

Seems like the offsets are right.

They will fit an 86 951 only if you fit 1/2in longer studs and a 1/2in spacer on the rear axles.

If I had the money I'd get these. Get whatever size offset you like. Sick!

Thank you! I bought the car with 996 turbo wheels installed (18 x11 on the rears) so I may already have the spacers and studs. The 996TT wheels don't look bad, but they seem like way too much for a stock 951.

I am partial to fuchs myself. I started out with a set of 17" cup replicas they looked great (better than any other wheels with the exception of speedlines) but it never drove great. I then went to a set of correct early phone dials that I liked, but to me it didn't look as tough. I will say that the correct offset wheel makes a huge difference in the way the car drives. It took me a long time to find a nice set of fuchs, but I am thrilled to have them and I am not sure that I would swap them for anything else at this point.
