Default 1991 Porsche 944 Turbo Cabrio - Which Tial Wastegate?

Hello everyone,

I am enquiring about my friend's 1991 944/951 turbo Cabriolet, who wants to upgrade/replace his stock wastegate with a TIAL.

Which model / type would you recommend (which would one would readily fit - i.e. bolt-on - without any mods and with what boost spring pressure?

Also, who would you recommend I contact for buying the Tial from - it must be someone that would ship to Europe.

Thanking you alll very much, I am looking forward to hearing your opinions and recommendations.

Best regards

Emilios

Yes go with MySwiss, super customer service, fast shipping and he ships to Europe. His Tial 38mm is bolt-on with adapters.

We have the 38mm Tial and adaptors for $299.You will be hard pressed to find it cheaper, anywhere on the planet! The 46mm unit is better if you plan to track the car and we have the set-up to bolt this right up too.

Emilios, I would go with TurboTim, he has always helped people out on this forum with his vast knowledge on these cars. My Swiss is selling something that Tim sold him and he started copying.

Emilios I also ordered my Tial 46mm from Tim at SFR and his adapters fit perfect, also his customer service and access to a wide variety of aftermarket parts make him a good source for future modifications. Check out his gorgeous exhaust systems , Tims an ace welder with superb fabrication skills as well.

Tim,

That's good news. I'm also in need of a new wastegate to replace my stock unit. Your website confused me a little, I wasn't sure if your posted price on the 38 included the adaptors or if those were extra. I'll be placing an order...

Come on re-fi!!! Come on re-fi!!!

i had a question about wastegates. Tim when i ordered your wastegate i installed it and everything but now it seems like my boost stays around 19psi with the wastegate. Does this matter with spring pressure

Sounds like you have a 1.3bar spring setup...

Not bad if you want to run high stable boost all the time. If you are sure high boost blew your head gasket, I think it would have been a combination of your LBE and high spring rate that blew you headgasket. You cant say the LBE blew your HG alone. You could remove your WG (or spring) and leave the LBE and say your WG blew the HG. For most 951's I would say that 1.3 is too high and reduces your flexibility. Just go buy a 1.0 spring and put it in... I have a 1 bar spring coming. I would be surprised if you were supplied a 1.3 unless you specifically asked for it.

i didn't ask for one i just ordered it from Tim from speedforce. The reason why my HG blew is because my LBE was set to high because my stock wastegate couldn't handle more then 15psi and when i installed the aftermarket Wastegate it could handle the boost where it was set at and i think the AF was off at the same time. I wasn't just blaming the LBE but it had its part of it though. Could there be something else making me get that high of boost
