Default reliaboost install question

Tomorrow I am going to install the reliaboost. I noticed it came with three 1/4 inch thick washers, where do the washers go? TIA, Reno

Those are the wastegates shims:

Also the ReliaBoost can be installed like this:

You can re-use the short section of hose coming off the banjo, just trim it to the length shown (no need to replace it completely). Then get a new 3-foot long section of 3/8" OD hose and run it from the outlet of the ReliaBoost directly to the wastegate for best performance.

Some of the earlier instructions I had says to hook the outlet of the ReliaBoost to the hard metal line under the intake that leads through the CV to the wastegate. But depending upon the condition of the original CV and lines, you may have leaks that can cause boost-spikes. The CV itself will still be controlling boost and the resultant boost-curve is actually the sum of both the CV and Reliaboost control, which can be undesirable. So, I recommend running the new hose directly to the wastegate like in the picture above.

I'll send you the rest of the instructions.

Can the line be attached to the wastegate without removing it? Reno

Yup, you can reach up from underneath and disconnect the stock line and connect your new hose. However, you'll probably need to remove the wastegate in order to shim it. I've heard of people shimming their wastegates with it in the car, but it probably requires some violations of child-labor laws...

What is the best way to set the Reliaboost to a particular boost level? Is there a rule-of-thumb for correlating the number of exposed threads on the adjustment with the boost level ?

Where is the wastegate on the car? Does anybody have a picture of it?
From underneath the car looks mostly the same to me.

If you want more info on where it is, refer to Lindsey Racing's Wastegate Install Page.

Thanks Rhesus. I know exactly where that is. Now I can put my shims in this weekend.

Not really. I think every two turns is about 3psi. But that depends on which spring you have in the Reliaboost. The stock one is for up to about 18psi with the stock shimmed wastegate. We have a stiffer one that places 18psi at closer to the middle of the adjustment range for those who are running to the end. Then the wastegate spring itself also has an effect on the REliaboost adjustments.

I have recently recieved my Map-kit / chips (v9) from Danno (not installed it yet, waiting for Guru-WG).
For now I just want to run max 15-16 psi. Should I run with the CV and manage boost from the map-box via the CV, or should I bypass the CV and manage boost with the reliaboost?
