Been trying to decipher the vin number, al makes sense 'til i get to the 8,9,10 digits.

Any help on the "55J" section would be great

USo it’s a 1988 model 951 (non-S) #265/1874 produced for the US market that year.

The 9th digit is somewhat spurious, the 10th digit identifies the model year, so for the 951 85=FN, 86=GN, 87=HN, JN=88, KN=89, LN=90 and MN=91

The 95 is a model code...5...J is year as mentioned above.

My 944s VIN is ...946FN..

Wonder if old 911s say 91 or 90?
