Default Unfortunate loss of another long time 944 community member.

I received a phone call at the end of the day yesterday letting me know that our friend Russell Berry had passed away. I felt the
need to share that with this community that he was so involved with however often behind the scenes.

Many of you have heard of Russell or worked with him directly. However many of you have not.

Russell was the man behind our LR/951, 944, 968 and 911 MAX chips for over 13 years and just last Tuesday mapped yet another custom chip
for a customer. If you’re driving with any of those in your car, that was his hard work you're feeling because of his shared passion for the 944 cars.

Russell was always willing to help out, take on a challenge, and tell it to you straight if he couldn’t do it or if you shouldn’t do it.

RIP my friend.

Very sad to hear this. We are all getting older and it will become common place to hear these sad events. RIP. Hope his friends and family can remember all the good fun things that was part of his life.

In the old e-mail list days (pre-message board), Russell was a tremendous contributor. He will certainly be missed.

Russell was a member of Hudson Champlain region of PCA and my student at track days.
Bright guy and a pleasure to be around. Both my son and I will miss him.

I remember Russell on the old email lists too... he was always happy to provide advise and guidance. I never met him personally but respected and appreciated all he brought to this community.

Godspeed and God bless, Russell.

Russ was a great guy... met up with him more than a few times when he lived in Greenville. Stand up dude. I was just looking at one of his maxtronic boxes I picked up years ago. RIP friend

Aww man sorry to hear this! My 951 S has his chip. And it was great ... when it ran (non chip) related "issues." This is sad.

damn. really? I rode for 45 years and lost more than a few friends. I hung it up over 10 years ago. No matter how "safe" you think you are you can't control the car driver.
