RX7 oil cooler set up w/pix

Ski's got one on his car too. Not sure if he did before & after temp comparisons. The oil-pressure gauge usually shows a drop when the oil heats up, so you can kinda use that as an indicator of oil-temp. Mine usually drops from 5-bar in normal driving down to 3-3.5bar on the track. I'm gonna put one of these RX-7 coolers in too and see what the change in oil-pressure drop is afterwards.
BTW - 2nd. gen RX-7 is a 13B motor.

There are boat loads of these available and plenty of owners will to get rid of them as they all go to giant coolers (if they are serious anyhow).

I run the 944oilcooling kit, it's also known as the KISS oil cooler. When I was researching oil coolers that proved to be the simplest bolt-in method without blocking any radiator. This should provide more oil cooling. I'm not sure how cost would compare, both are expensive as a result of the fittings and line, less the actual cooler.

That is exactly what I was thinking. The fittings and lines are about 2/3 the cost of the KISS kit. So why did you guys opt for the RX7 cooler? What about running both?

I can see that it's similar in length to the intercooler but i don't see how that would effect moving it as far as possible to the passenger side so that some or all of the radiator flow wouldn't be obstructed.

Just buy a Mocal and correct lines, fitting, can be done for less than 400 dollars, maybe less than that if you can find the fittings cheap!

there's no prob. with running a cooler in front of the rad, mazda's are set up this way as well I have run my car at over 100 degree air temp with the a/c on and this cooler set-up and did not see high coolant temps or overheats, ran on the track 100 degree day no prob. I think TonyG has run at higher temps(air) than those with a full length Mocal and is making serious power which is def. going to tax the cooling system more than what we're running. It doesn't matter as to what you're going to run rx-7,mocal,kiss,etc the best place for airflow is in front of the rad the brake cooling ducts are simply too small plus you have to re-locate the brake duct work. The main reason I have an rx-7 set-up is back in 90 something the only one available was powerhaus's which was something like 8-900$ which was absurd for what it was. That and the fact an rx-7 cooler was very similar in design shape, etc. just my .02.

Mochman, You can run at the track on a 100 degree no problem with the stock oil cooler, but for how long??
What kind of power are you running? Do you have any oil pressure numbers? What about oil temp?
Everything you described can be done with the stock oil cooler and stock horsepower.
