Default FS: 64k-mile unopened '86 951 short block

Have posted this as feeler before but ready to actually sell it...
Moving out of state and don't want to have to lug this thing around.

Short block (block assembled with crank, pistons, rods) from a 1986 944 Turbo that was totaled at 64k miles.
I bought it about 3 years ago from another Rennlist user but haven't done anything with it since.

Would like to get about $1000 for it, I can help arrange shipping if needed or pickup in southern California.

Pictures on request.

yes, went to scout the greater Nashville area last year. basically drove a 30 mile radius around Cotton Eye Joe...
went looking for one town and nearly ended up in Kentucky too.

this has been the plan for 1.5 years now, i have a long term project wrapping up in LA soon and i think that'll be time to go.

Any idea on shipping cost to Kansas City, 64014? I had to put a block in mine 20 years ago as part of the rebuild and it had an unknown number of miles on it at that time. I put 60K on it since. Engine is out for reseal and a few bores aren't the best.

As for Tennessee... got married there.. going there again in a few months. I have several friends who live there and they love it. South enough for great weather most of the year, low taxes, good incomes, and good communities (for the most part).

Hey Brian, when are we gonna get together? We've only been talking about that since you moved to KC, what, ten years ago? lol Seriously, lets meet up sometime, last time we talked was at 944Fest many many moons ago.

And yeah, parts of Tennessee are great! I don't love Nashville, its gotten too crowded but there are some surrounding areas that are awesome. I particularly like Columbia TN.

Hi Scott! Yes, we do need to round up some KC folk for some wings and drinks or something like that. My plan is to have the car back together spring of next year. Interior is getting redone, engine reseal, putting the AC back in it. I've had the car 20 years or so and it's never driven next to my dad's 911 (that he's had for 30 years or so). I've put 2000 miles, at most, on the car since moving here.

60k huh...?

Not bad.

If you get this one from Spencer, make sure he crates it up to previous shipping standards....

Man, I'm glad for you, you will love it there.

Just got back from a couple days venture up to Macon, Ga to pick up a car I bought with tow rig.

Georgia aint too shabby either.

Clean clean cities and towns where I was, Macon, Perry, Greenville.

Do you recall the Garrity situation when he sent my block back to me in a friggin' cardboard box with the #4 cylinder busted in 1/2? I made a crate for the engine when I shipped it to him.

I take it this was once yours... good pull? It will go back to stock as much possible this time around, except for the K27/8, MAF, and injectors.

No, not mine, but I remember the crate I made to ship you the block/pistons after your block came in busted.......

WHo could forget the Ill Fated Rebuild.....?

Forged pistons with Alusil compatible coating are pretty cheap nowadays compared to when your choices were way more limited back then, I'd go +.5 over and go with forged Wossner if it were me. $640 rings, pins and pistons is a pretty good deal for forged set.

That said, a 64k mi short block should easily be worth $1k.
