Unhappy Tial Install Problems

Thanks to the help on the board, I was able to remove my factory WG today. Unfortunately, my Tial 38mm with MySwiss adapters does not appear to fit.

Has anyone had this problem? The top/side of the WG is hitting the hanger bracket that the factory WG was attached to. I believe the dump tube also hangs from this.

I am attaching some pictures of the problem.

This is the bracket and dump tube:

This is as far as I can put the WG onto the dump tube before the top hits the bracket.

I know that I have the brackets installed correctly on the WG and even if the brackets were installed correctly, I know that this is the only orientation that would work with the WG. It is installed in the opposite orientation of the factory WG.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Max

I'm pretty sure you need to remove the factory bracket, that was one of the concerns about going to an aftermarket wastegate.

Hi. I read somewhere if you turn the lip piece what is facing on your car engine back is give the clearance what you need and maybe you can used for support the wastegate. So many people just left out the hanger with no problem even with "T46"

You have to remove the factory bracket. I have been running with out this bracket for a year no problems.

I hacked on a little and turned it round. Did not like the idea of running wihtout a support.

Thanks guys. I wasn't sure if this should be removed? Does the dump pipe connect to it?

Just to make sure I am removing the correct thing, I circled it in the pic. Is this it:

(I feel like John Madden)

Oh, and how do you get to bottom bolt on the bracket? Can I just remove the top bolt and rotate it around?

Thanks
Max

That bracket was designed by the devil himself. That thing is just a major PITA no matter which way you run. I had trouble with getting the bolts in that thing while doing my Lindsey WG. Perhaps I'll just toss it next time I'm in there.

Once you go through a couple of heat cycle's re tighten you're bolts as they will not be tight. I put about 30ft-lbs to them.

Just chuck that sucker. Removing the WG and starter just became about 100X easier! There are plenty of people who have been running without it for long enough to convince me it is a non issue.

You can retain the bracket by removing it and turning it opposite the factory direction, bolts right up and the bolts are easier to get to for future work.
