Very nice 944T featured in December Pano
For PCA members, there is a very nice '89 Turbo featured in December's Pano. For those who aren't members, join dammit! OK, seriously there is a great video here:

He has violated one of the key rules of 944 ownership though - NEVER add up your receipts!

i watched that video on my phone this morning. $200k into a 951??? we all know they love to be money pits, but daaaaaamn!!!
his final version, after his personal changes, is fantastic though. i could live with that every day and not change a thing.
makes me happy i haven't sold mine yet - thought about it many times.

West,
And this is why I don't add up my receipts.
Just put them in a folder
Two ongoing projects:
1989 Turbo steel widebody w/500 HP LS3 Street Car
1988 Turbo Tub all CF Body w/ 3.2 968 GT3 Race Car
Two existing 944's running
1989 2.7 GT5 Race car
1986 2.5 SP2 Race car
Max
And this is why I don't add up my receipts.

I saw the car at Amelia Island this year, I didn't think it was anything really special. I talked to the guy about it. I didn't think the fit / finish of the car was stunning or anything, and as I recall, the paint job was nice, but not perfect. I didn't really like the seats either. I'm not saying it's not a nice car, but it isn't my style and if I was to spend a lot of money on a 944, it would be different and come out nicer.

^ +1, I didn't want to be a dick but from the video the fit / finish of the bodywork/interior looks pretty meh. Especially for that kind of coin. I do like the color though. I was shocked it warranted a special video and write up.
But as long as the owner is happy with the result thats all that matters.

I'm just happy to see a feature about a 951.
FWIW - $15K to purchase plus $95K in mods equals $110K. Still a stunning number, but shop time adds up just as quick on a 944 as it does anything else I recon.
I bet I have more than that in receipts after tracking the car for 22 years. It's still only a $15K car.

For those negative critiquing, simmer down you jealous Dicks on being that picky. At least a 951 is getting noticed. And Mr. Max yes it’s probably best you just don’t add up your receipts. Ever.

I meant to post sorry the other day for me being negative as well. That comment I made was uncalled for. So I’m sorry to everyone. As for that car, it’s pretty nice and if regular maintenance was performed all the time at a shop over 30 years then it’s easy to see how it could cost that much. Imagine how much it cost to fuel it over 30 years. Or don’t, that might not be a good idea as well.

It is always exciting to see coverage of these cars but... have others found the article somewhat painful to read? For example, I find some of the technical content to be cringeworthy.
The author tells us that the engine was "bored out to 2.7 liters" and later that "enhancements include a 3.0-liter bottom-end crankcase". Maybe the car has two engines, or they built two engines for it.
I'm also curious about the "968 rear end", "along with a 968 six-speed manual transmission". Anyone had success with separating the "trans" from the "axle" on one of these units? Maybe I'm being overly fussy but this is a magazine dedicated to Porsche so it seems that an expectation for specific and accurate information should be reasonable.
One more bit of fussiness, for the cars owner; is that a 30 year old fuel supply hose pictured?
