Default Group Buy: PLX M300 wideband oxygen sensor and/or the Power Perfect SMT6

I was planning on purchasing a wideband oxygen sensor and a Power Perfect SMT6. I thought others may be considering the same thing so I contacted John D., obtained his approval, and got some prices from a couple of vendors.

Details on the products are here:

http://www.plxdevices.com/index.htm
http://www.perfectpower.com/Products/smt6.asp

I was looking at the PLX M300 and Eric at http://www.bnecustoms.com/ gave me the following prices:

5 - 9 units would be 304.99 (Each)
10 - 24 units would be 294.99 (Each)
25 + units would be 284.99 (Each)

Regular prices from PLX are $329 and $309 from B & E Customs. I emailed PLX themselves and they gave prices of $312 for 5-9 units and $296 for 10+ units. Eric gave me a shipping cost of about $15 which is half of PLX. He thought he could ship all the units for $25 to a US location and if it leaves California then there is no sales tax.

Travis at http://apexmodified.ca/ carries the SMT6 and gave me the following prices:

5 + units would be $355. If more than 10 are interested we may get a better price. I haven't asked yet. Regular price was $445.

These costs are in US funds and don't include shipping.

Anybody interested?

Does the wideband include the Bosch O2 sensor? Does it have data collection capablitys? I didn't see anything on the website.
That SMT6 looks enticing...
Anyone using that currently that can give us some feedback? Ignition and fuel mapping???
Thanks,

Vitesse was the first company to use the SMT5 then the SMT6 on the 951. It's the unit we use with our kits. The SMT6 is a great unit, it has some neat features that you must figure how to use. Some of its basic features are a bit tricky... We sell the unit for a higher price, but you get the support you will need.

The prices I listed are converted to US. The Cdn value for 5+ units is $469.

I'm no expert on all the capabilities of the SMT6 but I believe it can can control boost. Anyone?

My interest in the SMT6 is the ability to alter and control air and fuel. No more changing chips everytime you make a modification

I'm always interested in saving money Stephen. Are you a dealer for the M300 or the SMT6?

Yup, the M300 includes the Bosch Wideband Sensor, Controller with Display and harness. It's complete. Lots of guys are using the SMT6. Perhaps they'll chime in.

I use the SMT 6 and it is a really nice unit. The only downside is the initial set-up of the unit could be a real pain if you don't have solid tech support at your side. My recommendation to you guys is to pick up the SMT 6 but spend a few extra bucks and get it from John (Vitesse). His units come ready to go and is a whiz at remote fine tuning. Besides the $ you'll save on the dyno, you may save yourself a HG or two. My car was idling and revving nicely in a few minutes.

The Link would be the SMT6 ,so no need to get one and if you can replace a oxygensensor you can install the PLX.

Yes I am a Dealer for PLX.

As for the SMT6, don't waist your time,go with Vitesse. You will drop it in and you will be ready to tune. It's not just a question of buying and driving. The configuration part can be a bit lenghthy and problematic.

Don't forget, that when you convert your Canadian price to US, there's alot more then the exchange rate. You will have duty, taxes, broakage fees,etc...

Mike.. toss me on the list for the SMT-6. I agree.. support is nice, so perhaps John (fast951) should be in on this. John, would you like to be a possible vendor on the group buy? Let Mike know what you can offer, and for what price.
