Default do porsche enginers always care about service

Now this comes my recent experience with removing my turbo. I'm not sure if the powers at be in the era of the 951 cared about the lost skin on all our knuckles. Now those two bolts alen key that access from the under carriage to remove the turbo.....oh my god. You know it the first one came out easy but the second no and was stripped!!!! Needless to say after the entire exhaust was removed I finally rotated the turbo back and forth until this loosed the bolt enough to loosen it. And the down pipe from the headers those seized bolts are no help thank god for nut splitters!! Sorry I had to vent to be honest not looking forward to the removal of the head even thought is almost off. Oh ya how many nuts and bolts can one collect on the shop floor before forgetting where they all came from???

do porsche enginers always care about service?
Change "always" to "never" and the answer is yes.

yes i think thats how they kill us on shop rates its expensive to have children on hand to reach for most of these bolts. I think every day is bring your kids to work day at a porsche dealership!!!

I understand completely after doing two engine rebuild/refresh. Makes you think some Germans were still pissed but had a warped sense of humor.

A bit off topic but this is the very reason(also that I love to slalom and barefoot) that I will always own a tournament class ski boat. You lift the cover and the whole engine and transmission are within your grasp. You can literally lift one of these engines out of one of these boats in less than 30 minutes. Try that on a I/O Mercuiser...jeez

i would have to say my 79 911 sc seemed easier to work on.. that engine could be out in 30 min. But to change the plugs was a bitch. Oh well it wasnt so much fun to drive we all would be driving sunfires. Oh my god did i just swear!!

No, they don't care. I looked in my friend's new 911's engine compartment, still a nightmare.

Dont feel bad...Its not just in their cars. We have some German machine tools and the way they are built and programmed is insane. I could program them with 1/2 the code and much fewer subs.

despite the expense i tend to just replace bolts rather than collect them off the floor. new unstressed fasteners are nice (and i'm **** enough to chase threads when given the opportunity too hehe).

I have changed whatever bolts I could from allen to Hex. It makes it much easier.

Oh yes they do! After rebuilding my engine and numerous other maintenance jobs I am completely convinced that they care. They must have a special engineering committee, each of whom get at least 8 weeks of holiday and vacation time, whose job it is to ensure that no one other than a Porsche dealer will ever dare try to repair anything thus ensuring that all repair jobs be done by Porsche at rates that will support their lifestyle.
