Default Exhaust Sealing Rings??

What's the consensus on the exhaust seal rings? Do they need to be replaced?

I think there is 7 total

944.111.205.04 Qty 4
2 for the headers to cross over pipe
1 for cross over pipe to turbo
1 wastegate to dump tube

944.111.205.03 Qty 2
2 for each end of the downpipe

993.111.195.00 Qty 1
cross over to wastegate

They have a list price of around $100

Can anyone confirm, deny, or append the above list?

FYI there is also the little mushy gasket between the dump tube and cat/testpipe 951.123.134.02 & a factory cat and cat back should have 928.111.244.03 to seal them.

I said list price, which is actually $157.99 for all 7 from a P dealer.

$40, that's a steal, to good to belive, I own a shop and can't touch that price.

The four on the crossover (2 x header, turbo and wastegate) have to seal against turbine pressure (typically much higher than boost pressure.) Any leaks on these four will result in lost performance. I would replace them every time (and have once so far.)

The remaining ones are downstream of the hot side or waste gate, so they see much less pressure (exhaust backpressure only.) Any leaks on these may cause noise and poison you, but at least you actually gain performance. I would consider re-using these if they are in good shape, but don't have any experience trying it.

One thing I did learn: don't re-use crush washers.

I replace the critical boost related ones, but the one from the down pipe to the cat I reuse.
Take it out and carefully hammer it round again on a vice or anvil. It crushes again pretty well.
I've seen no carbon marks at the seal joint where exhaust would leak out.
With the amount my testpipe has been removed, I would have spent 200 dollars on crush rings so far.

I vote reuse.
However, this time around I ordered new ones. I don't think they were leaking, but just the same SOMETHING is leaking...

I vote replace them. I don't know about you guys, but I don't r&r my exhaust system very often. It's a lot of work on a 951, so I want to do it right and do it once.

Magown, you are correct, there are a total of 9 gaskets and crush rings for the whole exhasut system. We sell them individually or in a kit. The kit sells for 119$us.
