Ok, so as lots of you know, my boost is gone.

I used to get that push back/g-force feeling when I push past 3k RPMs.

Well, now I don't get that feeling anymore. I'm hearing that it could be a Vacuum leak. Could such a small leak take all the boost away? I'm getting past 1.5 BAR on the fac. gauge, but I'm just not getting that go-fast feeling.

Well, recently, I've also noticed some weird sound coming from around the CAT. Sounds like something is moving around, and I can only here it when the engine is cold.

Anyone know what's up? Boost is gone, got weird sound from under car.

is the cat clogged? older cars (never heard of a 944 doing it) have been known to fill a cat and there would be no place for the exhaust to go.

What's the condition of the wastegate? My stock wastegate fell apart internally and I lost all boost and had a rattling from the wastgate pipes.

How many miles where on your car when your wastegate fell apart?

If it is my WG, does anyone have on that I can buy, the lindsey, SFR, etc are very pricey for a 16 year old.

Does anyone know of a website/tutorial on removing the wastegate?

Lindsey Racing has a tutorial online. My car had over 80k miles and the wastegate fell apart within days of adding a Boost Enhancer. Used wastegates are on eBay for about $75 fairly often. You'll probably need a couple gaskets from the dealer that run about $30 too.

Sam and Matt, when your wastegates did "go" did you guys suffer from the same symptoms as me? Loss of boost, weird noise coming from around cat, etc?

mine just wouldnt hold any amount of boost towards redline like it used to. I noticed like a 3psi difference. Not real similar to what yours is doing, but replacing the wastegate is a good idea regardless. The stock one sucks imho. You can use a cheap controller as long as you have a nice wg. Tial comes to mind.

I recently lost my 25psi boost to 8psi max and spend many hours looking at “the wrong end” including sealing up a slightly leaking idle motor (they leak a bit with age) and fully disabling the wastegate, which gave me 15 psi and some dangerous noises.
I finally took off the 1-year old cat and sure enough, the last of the two bricks had cracked and one of the pieces were blocking 90% of the exit, getting worse with time as it was ground into shape.
After grinding the brick out all my boost is back, and then some. I did recall hearing some rattling, but never “connected the dots”.
In other words, your problem still could be the cat.

Since you show boost on your gauge then I would think that your cat may be clogged. Raise your vehicle and support it with a jack stand, lightly hit the cat with the palm of your hand and listen for any loose pieces although removing it for inspection would be better, just in case a piece has jammed itself in the exhaust. If you hear a rattle from the inside then it's your cat. Reno

Cut out the cat!! If price is a concern, get a GURU wastegate. I would put mine up against any other tuner companiy's wastegate. Boost comes on fast and hard , and I hold any psi I want to redline. I even get 15 psi in first, red at redline. Can't touch it for $190.00 !!!!
