3.0 Turbo Dipstick Tube Question
Hello again, it's been a busy summer working on the car. It's been a slow process but I'm finalizing the build on my 3.0L turbo.
Once again test fitting my intake and I noticed that my dipstick tube mounting tab does not align with the 8v turbo intake. Of course it doesn't.
The block is a 944 S2 but the dipstick tube is a late 944 turbo part. Specifically 951 101 027 03.
944 101 024 08 and 944 107 025 01 are the part numbers for the S2 tube and dipstick.
Before I go and order these parts, just wanted to check with other 3.0 Turbo owners what tube they ended up using. Using the stock tube for the S2 probably makes sense as that is probably necessary to get the correct oil level reading. But does it actually have a mounting provision compatible with an 8v intake?
Any help appreciated, thanks.

On an '89 2.7 block/pan with 951 intake, I had to use the 951 tube but made my own tab so that everything lined up (just cut and bent a piece of flat 16 gauge steel and MIG'd it to the existing tab). The key is to make sure the tube is fully seated and squared-up at the bottom or it will leak. Also, see the thread linked below for a highly-recommended o-ring upgrade from McMaster. I could not get the dipstick tube to seal with the stock o-ring, or with any of the known tricks (aka LR's double-O-rings, etc.), but the slightly larger o-ring from McMaster did the trick and it's been bone dry ever since. I always put about 6.5 quarts in with new filter, and that brings it to the top of the oil mark on the stick and is at least as much as Porsche lists as the oil capacity, so for better or worse, I rely on the 951 dipstick to check the level. I also tried ordering/using other tubes/sticks and ended up going with the 951 version since it came closest to the 951 intake.

Excellent information, just what I was looking for, thanks Tom.
Even on the stock motor the dipstick tube always leaked on me. I usually use two of the dipstick tube sealing rings instead of one. That fixed it on the stock motor. But going to definitely try the mcmaster seals, looks like a much
