Comment comes from someone who has driven the amg, but also a 3L 951 and a 968TS replica, trust me the amg feels dull and boring compared to a modded 951, I got to remind you I live in SoCal everybody drives a MB even AMG's, used clk55 are dirt cheap

Agreed, used CLK55s are cheap but to me I love it. New they were over $70k, pretending like it’s the year 2004 is free🤣

i cant wait til my 951 is on the road and I’m much more inclined towards keeping it.

Ah Lart, I did not know you wanted to banter about modified cars, I live on the same road as RENNtech here in FL, they tuned my AMG, they may be able to change your mind

Comon Lart be realistic here, how much actual 951 is left in those 3L builds making 500+hp and at what cost and long-term reliability issues. Let’s face it not everyone can afford to spend $15-25k on an engine build that bears no resemblance to the original in order to say it’s fast.

The AMG’s are easy and relatively cheap to improve, for $500 even the op’s na engine can achieve close to 400hp/400tq with a simple software tune, no reliability issues and if the car was newer, the mods wouldn’t even affect the MB warranty, there’s something to be said for that.

Yes the AMG’s are heavy compared to an 80’s sports car, personally I don’t see that as a problem on a street car, which is what the op is asking about in this thread, regardless they are no slouches-far from it. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve drunk plenty of the 951 Kool Aid and I am hooked, I’m just a realist and don’t see it as a cure-all for every situation.

I like Mercs, was seriously looking at the small I4 C250 Turbo Coupe, but that said...., I don't think a 951 was ever touted as a 0-60 or 1/4 mile car.

Get these both on a road course (I know OP's intent but this isn't any more outlandish than drag racing both) and the ZF auto will turn into a pile of molten cheese.
