go cart tells the story. One lap on the track 951 vs. the MB...no contest.

I like being different and having a car not many people get to own. Keep the 951. In a world full of Benz cars that are as numerous as mustangs and vettes anymore, that old p car will stand out. AANNDDD....it isn't guards red!

You're asking a hornet nest of 951 enthusiasts.... but it should go without saying that your decision is going to be personal as these cars are 2 different types of German sports coupes.

Have you ever worked on a Mercedes? I have and there is not much fun to be had when things need repair. Let’s just say a 951 is a pleasure to work on compared to an AMG. Short answer get the Mazda.... I mean the 951

So true, if it’s a purely a street car you need then keep the AMG. I had the 500hp supercharged version of that car, the CL55 V8, and I’m not exaggerating but you’ll be hard pressed to find a better car to daily drive. Though keep the 951 if you want an occasional track fix, while Mercedes ABC suspension is amazing in the street, it doesn’t cut the mustard on the track.

My heart says 951. I’ve gotten quite familiar and comfortable with tackling the mechanics... but that AMG has been reliable and pretty simple mechanically. No supercharger, no air ride ABC suspension brakes are cheap, 1 model year before they get spendy. But my oh my the torque of the Benz is addictive. Stoplight wide open throttles entering 90degree corner intersections are amazing, haha. Corners flat with the rear attitude skating and shuddering right at the limits aid adhesion just with the squeeze of the right pedal.

if the 951 can feel that fun, no brainer I’ll keep the Porsche. I’ve only driven it stock and been living modified ones thru others experiences. The Porsche constantly occupies my mind when not tasked with “life” duties for sure just like everyone else here and I love it.

currently installing the belts and water pump, rod bearings... r&r stuff. Decided on keeping it “factory” with a k27-6 here soon as well.

My my wife wants me to keep the CLK, lol.

The AMG supercharged version of those cars are badass. Even driving my friends C32 AMG was quite loads of fun.

It does depend on what you want though really.

I will say this, after having my 951 mothballed for nearly 4 years now it is close to being on the road. And it's heavily modified with 18 lbs boost low setting and Rogue tune. 50 trim hybrid turbo and tons more. It will be a lil beast. And I can't wait

So it's my blaster car, and when I want to cruise but still roll out I use a Cayenne Turbo modified also.

So figure a way for best of both worlds maybe?

I love 951’s but so do bank accounts. The 951 is 31 years old versus 14 years old with OBD2 for the benz. I would keep the Benz and I’m a major 944 enthusiast. Even if it wasn’t an AMG I would still pick the Benz due to how much newer it is. Listen to your wife not us, we are a bad influence in these major decisions in life. You don’t have to live with us.

I dunno, MB even the gansta in Los Angeles drive those with 22"s, nothing special just another MB, the 951 well there are two kind of drivers in the world the ones that drive 951's and the mere mortal the common man who drives anything else. 377hp on a 3900lbs car lol that's a tank.

Gotta say the 951 has everything I love about a fun car. So analog, big simple 4 cyl, turbo lag for days, 50-50 balance, recaros, the best brakes around, no traction control. Totally my kind of car. My dream car the year I graduated HS too.

Lol, comment would only come from someone who hasn’t owned an AMG. A plain MB and an AMG is as different as a 944na and a 951.
