Default Interest in Clear timing belt covers

Is there any interest in clear timing belt covers? I had inquired into the first company I found on my internet search. I just want a set. If anyone has a transparent set for sale for a 16V hit me up. Anyways to the response from the company.

Thanks for your interest and taking the time to send an email over.
I'm interested in making clear covers for as many different engines as
possible. I'm a VW/Audi technician by trade and plan to expand Zaklee
Corp into the European market over time. I also owned an 83 944 for a
brief time
Roughly I need to sell 500 of any new idea to break even on a new
project. I'll do a little research and see what kind of market there is
for that application. Maybe you can gauge the interest on a forum or
facebook group or club you're involved in.
Looking forward to chatting further,
Jason Rivkin

I think it would be cool - but it would depend on the price for me... Budget conscious 951 owner...

Total cost, $0.

Can you beat that?
Didn't know this was a no spending competition or I wouldn’t have bought a 951 then upgraded almost everything.

doubt you'd sell 500 sets TBH.
how many people want to see the belts?

however, with some ingenuity you can build a vacuum box and vacu-form your own clear cover for pretty cheap.

i've experimented with making clear lenses for the 951 fog lights this way and it turns out pretty well...until everything got crushed during a move lol

500???
Either he's selling to cheap, or his process is to expensive.
To be honest, i think he's dreaming for 500.
Cool thing, but not for me, i can barley see the top of my covers.
IMO get quotes from others.

He doesn't want to tool up and make such a low demand item because he has determined that it is a money loser for him. But he doesn't want to offend a potential customer by outright saying no, and so has shifted the burden for surveying and finding 500 like-minded people to you. Have seen this many times where a contractors bid is 5X anyone else's bid. This means that he doesn't want that job, but doesn't want you to drop him from consideration for your next project or purchase.

I bought that top piece for my 86 engine and some Dip$hit at my friends shop broke it supposedly and threw it away. It was the only transparent cover I’ve ever seen but know that it’s gone. And by the prices of this guys other items he’s looking at selling them for cheap. Like $10 cheap. Look up there parts for yourselves. For $10ea I would buy one for each of my cars, even my parts car.

Got these on my Cup car. Great items if you still need them.

I'm 54, so take that into consideration with this question. How many 951 owners with well sorted, reliable 951s can be considering clear belt covers? Id like a 30mm front sway bar. I'd like to do a stroker. I'd like one of the new turbos being developed, a standalone system, a bigger fuel pump, a leak free car, a CPR splitter, and 131 other things for my car.

This isn't meant to offend the OP, or anyone else. I just can't envision a handful of owners that don't want or need something else for their car than clear belt covers. Am I nuts?

No, you're not nuts....and I'm 53, so....

I will fly off every now and again, like why do you need 550 bhp and GT3 ceramic brakes on a d@mned street car...?

But, in general, with things like this, I just figure, hey, whatever floats your boat.

I just don't see any purpose for these whatsoever I, mean, what is the benefit here....to watch your sprockets turning round and round...?

You can't check belt tension by looking and if you are using these to keep an eye on whether your belts are fraying, then you are too late on the maintenance interval.

Chances are, if you are doing it to show off (maybe a valid reason) some custom anodized billet gears, the whirring air contaminated by dust, belt wear fragments and oil residue would require fairly often removal for the purpose of keeping them clean enough to serve the intended purpose.

Who has this much time...?
