Question engine

Right now I am in college, so my money and space is tight. So i was wondering your guys opinions on buying a motor now and fixing it up. Then when i have the money i will buy an actual 951 and swap egines. That way i can get the internals of the motor already build up and have the motor bored out to 2.8 L. Plus buy a few things like intakes and such.

I've got a complete '86 951 engine ready for rebuilding. No problems a few seals and maybe a valve job wouldn't fix. Let me know if you're interested.

Pdiver, not sure if I would do it that way. Based on experience, too many things can happen in life and you don't want to tie up all this money and effort into a project when you don't even have a car.
I would start by buying the car and then go from there. Just my suggestion.

The reason for doing it this way is because i have no room for a whole car.

Cars fit nicely in parking lots.

Why don't you get a 951 first. Modify it. Then decide if that's not enough power for you.

I think you'd be surprised.

Iam not think about the power being low. i just wanted to get a head start on it so when i have room for the car it will have all the mods done already.

If you want to build a motor for the fun/satisfaction of it, then go for it. I plan to do the same thing. However, for the cost of building a 2.8 from scratch, you could probably buy and modify a 2.5 liter 951 capable of running with a Z06.
