Default OEM 951 rear diffuser any good?

Over the years I've tried researching, but there isn't a lot of discussions pertaining to the stock rear diffuser. I managed to find one and now I'm fixing to install. Does this thing actually improve aero performance?

sure looks better. I believe it does do something. it does reduce the angle of the exit point. with a steep angle, it can cause a negative affect. Cleaner air flow exit.

It was designed with protection looks and aerodynamics in mind. For aerodynamics I imagine it works as a package with the 951 side skirts and under tray. The patent is on my Pinterest account if you want to read more, sorry it’s too large to upload here.

It weighs about 30 lbs or so, I am assuming that is also the down force it has.

I just looked at Mantis Sport Racing cars. The turbo has it on. I guess that's all I need to know. If it's good enough for Ernie & the gang then sign me up.

I believe it was to help role the air behind the turbo cars at high speeds. To help mix the hot air from the exhaust and have it tumble so to say behind the car before exiting away from the rear of the car. This thought was to allow a "hot air pocket" behind the car to help "push" it to faster speeds while keeping it stable. The idea of weighing down the rear end is just the products used in the 80's for safety and durability. Aftermarket fiberglass units do the same thing without all the weight or durability(meaning they will break if hit).
