Default Anyone tried this track tire setup?

It seems only Kumho makes a track tire larger than 245/45 in 16". Anyone tried the 245/45-16 front, 265/45-16 rear V700 setup? I'm considering using these on 8"/9" rims, even though the 265 is 1" taller than the 245.
Thanks,
Gary

I use 225/50 16 and 265/45 16 Kumho V700 on 8” and 9” Design-90 wheels. I tried 245/45 on the rear, but the rim was wider than the tire and therefore taking some scrapes when getting too close to the curb. I prefer the tire to be just slightly wider than the rim, which this set-up has. I am happy with the set-up and the rear wheels fills out the wells to the extent that I had to grind a bit off the inner fender lip.
I think the Design-90 wheels looks good, but they do not vent air very well, the rims get quite hot when racing.

Yes, a 9" rim is a bit wide for a 245/45, even though that was the factory fitment for the Turbo S. I didn't realize there is a 9" Design 90. What is its offset? I have the 9" Club Sport which is et60, so I think the 265/45 should fit.
Was your car well balanced with the 225 front, 265 rear setup, Laust? I used 245s all around last year, but would really like more traction in the rear. And yes, you are correct about the Design 90s/Club Sports not venting as well as some more open spoke design wheels.

The 9" Design-90 wheels came from a late model 928, where they were fitted with pressure sensors, so two holes per wheel had to be plugged.
Both front and rear are 52mm offset. I could not feel a difference when going from 245/45 to 265/45, but that may be blurred by the fact that my front control arm bushings both had 1/2" play. This has been corrected, but I have not been on the track with the new bushings yet.

Hi,

I ran this setup this year on a street oriented 944 turbo for several solo 1 time trials and lapping days. The setup works well, however the 265 kumho looks like a tractor tire with it's large sidewall, it should be a 40, not a 45 which I believe it was. The tires are excellent, they performed almost on par with the R3S03 hoosiers at less cost and lasted much longer. I would recommend these tires, unfortunately the sizing isn't ideal, but you have no other good options on 16's

Yeah, the TurboCup cars had 255/40-16 on 16x9" rims. Might be a little smaller in diameter. A 265/40-16 or 275/40-16 would be just about right.
