Default 968 Hatch on a 944?

>This is a crosspost off the general 944 board. I did not get any responses, but Im sure a few people have done this:

For those of you with a 968 hatch on their 944s, what did you do about the 3rd brake light?

You can remove the light so you can use a key to open the hatch, but then you have a hole in the spoiler trim section, and you don’t have a 3rd light. Buying a new solid rear trim piece for a 90-91 S2 is price prohibitive.

Or you can leave the light there, and not have the ability to use a key to open the hatch.

Other options?

What did you use as the gasket around the latches? Use the 968 style gaskets and screw them into the car body, or replace the latch assemblies on the hatch with the older 944 style that have the rubber gasket molded in?

Search the archive posts. I have described this process 3 times. It is not a straight forward issue. To recap - you need a 968 hatch to make it work.
