spark from battery ?
I have a 1986 944 turbo with a bad alternator. So when I need to drive it I put a charger on the battery over night and drive it around town. The battery is less than one year old. My question is if I take it on a 200 mile trip, will it drain the battery providing spark to the engine?

its not the spark so much but the fuel pump and fans that will drain the battery down.
200 miles is too long - usually a good battery will have sufficient capacity to get you 50 miles or so but it might be dead after that.
rent a car for your trip until you've got a few hours to swap the alternator.

A friend w/ a 944S lost his alternator once at the track and made the 7 hour drive back home. He had to stop every hour or so at an auto parts store and buy a new battery. I don't think you'll make it 200 miles..
