I'd say it was probably a good idea passing on that one. There have recently been much better options at that price point recently.
Take for example: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...44-turbo-s-14/
I was recently in the market for the same car so I have been watching the market pretty closely. I'll shoot you a link if I see something interesting

I watched that auction and thought about bidding. I've sent several messages to this guy but haven't gotten a reply...

Considering paint issues, etc. $18k seems high IMHO
Also, as I just replaced the nasty yellow coolant overflow reservoir, noticed the one in the photo doesnt have the hose connection like my 1986 does?

Nordschleife Master
If it’s running a dry turbo there’s no need for the extra hose connection on the reservoir. It also doesn’t have the coolant cross-over pipe and it likely has a block-off plate on the water pump.

I was 'in the area' tonight and took a look at this car and spoke to the current owner. Nice guy.
Apparently car was purchased from an Insurance auction. Car came from Connecticut apparently. Interior (except for the dash) looks good. Delamination on the hatch is starting to manifest itself. Didn't get to hear it run due to coolant hose issue...as previously noted - turbo cooling deleted. Has a catch can installed. Intake origin is unknown, but quite interesting. 968 mirrors...but not door handles. Has aftermarket 3" exhaust. Body is 8/10. No major body issues, but clear coat is peeling in a few areas and there is a nice ding on the nose panel that will need to be addressed. Has 16" Cup I wheels and Porsche script cloth seat inserts. Dash has usual cracking. Intake is a saw off of a stock 944T Intake welded onto a custom fabricated aluminum housing. Nicely done. Some throttle housing adapted to it that I don't currently recognize. No option codes, no owners manual. Windshield has minor cracking on low end of Drivers side. Not a visual issue. Carpet in good shape.
