Almost shocked more people aren't considering 968's for turbo projects. you have a car with all the 944 Turbo DNA and arguably most desirable lower blocks to turbocharge. Then, most examples for sale are usually in wayy better, garaged condition.

Its what a dealer is asking and not what they are fetching. That’s a car I looked at, it’s just an 87 with zero desirable options, little maintenance history and which is worth maybe half the asking price. However the dealer, who bought it at auction, is clearly delusional.

i watched that auction and it went for a shocking amount of money, imo. $55k opens up a tremendous amount of options.

That car was bid up to $23K on BaT. True mileage is unknown, because the odometer has been broken for several years, as some commenters pointed out in that auction, which is not disclosed in the Craigslist ad. Also, it's been painted at some point. The dash is also severely cracked, and on and on.

I actually enquired about that Craigslist ad, before I realized it had previously been on BaT. I asked if it had been painted and he said "not that he's aware of" and that all VIN tags are in place. Hmmm... He knows good and well it's been painted, as confirmed on BaT.

I also asked if the water pump was changed with the timing belt during that service in 2014. He said yes, but the documentation on BaT does not indicate such.

He did admit there was "some cracking on the dash around the vents at places" when I asked about that, because the dash is conveniently not photographed in the Craigslist ad. The BaT photos provide a better view, and that dash is not just cracked - it's severely warped.

Maybe he doesn't realize that VINs are easily Googled. In any case, not the most honest seller. Buyer beware.
