Default Collector Car Insurance? cross post

I'm looking into getting this type of insurance and would like some opinions and/or recommendations.

Anyone have experience with Leland West, American Collectors Insurance or any other collector car insurance company?

I have a 1987 944 Turbo and I'm 27. Some of the companies (Hagerty) require that the car be at least 19 years old and that the driver be at least 27, so those won't work for me. Leland West requires PCA membership, which I don't have but would consider getting it in order to take advantage of the insurance discount.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I applied for insurance with Leyland West for the 2nd car (86 951), but they declined coverage.

I use my 84 944 NA as my daily driver (insured through Geico). They said my daily driver needs to be less than 10 years old in order for them to provide coverage on the 951.

I am still looking around for cheaper collector coverage for my 951.

Anyone have any ideas?

I got a good collector car policy for my 951 at Parish Heacock in Lakeland, FL. 1-800-252-5233. Just ask for the agent that handles collector cars. He's a PCA member and knows our situation. Like most collector car insurance, it is "agreed value" coverage, has a maximum # miles per year and you must provide pictures of the car and the garage in which it is kept. I haven't had any claims yet, but have heard they are fair.
