Default help on smog please

hello everyone, well it's that dreaded smog monster again.
the car is running rich that's the only problem as stated by the mech. and his advise was to replace the afm, so i did and still runs rich.
i've replaced the 02 sensor, afm, plugs, cap, rotor, oil, filters, ran octance booster, run 91 octane, ran berryman emmission stuff. still won't pass still rich.
can't adjust the fqs as guru chips won't run other than stock position.
would a wide band 02 help tune this car and hopefully lean it out just for test purposes or are there any other alternatives.
the smog is the only thing i'm waiting for so i can get the title and thecar registered in my name so i can have it shipped here in germany.
please help. i miss my car.

Which test are the running? The regular idle and 3000 rpm no-load test? Or the Smog II rolling road load test? If you are not in a Smog II area, I wonder if you could turn down your fuel pressure sufficiently to lean it out? Also, is your cat installed and working?

The afm should be adjusted when it's replaced. The voltage depends on whether you follow the factory which I've heard states .45 volts or some of the tuners which have said up to .85. The higher the voltage the richer it runs at part throttle. If we knew whether the fail was HC or CO or both and by what margin, it may be easier to help.

the adj.fpr is set to the lowest setting 34-36 psi. the afm i bought is a used one from parts haven. it's the satandard no-load test at 3000 rpm.
wou;d a wide band 02 help or should i just go to a different state that doesn't require smog and register it there?

Carl,

I've just gone through a similar problem, see thread "High Co Emissions"

Have you checked the air temp and engine temp sensors?

Kenny
