Default Was your A.I.R. Splitter fitment as bad as this??? (PICS)

So I painted my splitter and got ready to install it. I took the black underbelly thing off and when I put the splitter up to the bumper it is TOTALLY off. I mean, the drivers side is too far in, and the passenger side is a bit out. There is no way I can install this, was everyone's this bad? If so, how do I fix it?? I have pictures but I'm trying to find my link cable so I can upload it...but in the mean time, give me some advice, thanks!

Are you sure that the poly bumper isn't off? FWIW, my GT splitter fit perfect.

Wow, that's pretty off. I think you should call AIR and make sure they fix the problem, either with a new splitter or a refund.

Yeah that is pretty off, and i definitly think you should try and get a replacement or a refund. BUT has your car ever had it's front bumper replaced for any reason(s)?

MPD, my front bumper has a small crack between the top of the bumper and passenger sidemarker but this is very minimal and should not account for such a big difference. I will call AIR tomorrow and see what happens then. Even looking from afar, now that I know that it does not fit, you can notice that one side is more pushed in than the other side etc. Funky.

Eyal, I am not totally sure, what features do the OE Gatorbacks have? It is very possible that they are since I have a very low mileage car...but anyway, the rear tires are not because they are a different brand I don't know what the PO was thinking

FYI... you could buy Gatorback tires well into the late 90's. (maybe even later)

You can still buy them from Corvette places but only in certain sizes, ours not being one of them.

IMHO, you may have had some recourse before you painted it. As you have now altered it from how it arrived, AIR is "technically" in the clear now. Whatever happened to test fitting it first?

FWIW, my AIR splitter fit fine with only a small bit of work. I drilled and mounted it a few times BEFORE I painted it.

good luck

yeah I should have atleast test fitted it...
I called AIR and they said I should take off the bumper because it is able to bend to be able to fit the splitter, which is what ELLSSUU suggested...I still doubt this will be able to fit though

Powpow regardless of what the PO was thinking, your car won't handle correctly with two different types of tires on the front and back. Spend some money on a matching set of tires for your safety before buying any more mods! Those gatorbacks are nasty in the rain and are probably alot older than 4 or 5 years, and definitely need replacing! Tires are the single most important part of any car.

Are you sure that the splitter isn't just "rotated" a little?
Try matching the rear of one side of the splitter to the front of the wheel opening and "working" your way around.
I had one of these splitters, and once I spent the time fitting it, it looked great.
