Default Main bearing bore align honing

This is a a question for experienced builders of the 944 engine. How is a good mains alignment hone accomplished with our blocks? Is there an allowance for the girdle sealant? Should you Bore mains assembled with the sealant? I want a rock solid short block.

Do you have a problem with main bearing wear...?

It will not matter if the block and girdle are clean vs sealant.

You could have additional dowels added if you believe it improves the factory's design.

Yes both main and rod. Low hours. Clearance checked with plastigage all good during assembly. Suspect "good used " crank. Sending both out to shop to confirm. should the block need some work how do you account for the thickness of the film of sealant?

There is no sealant applied to the crankshaft main bearing area of the girdle so it would torque with 0 clearance.

The torque of the bolts around the oil pump suction channel and sides of girdle where the sealant is applied will compress to metal to metal contact anyway. The sealant is for discrepancies in surface flat/smoothness.

Thank you. I assembled it with sealant around the mains. Pricey lessons in the Porsche world.
