Default 944 turbo gas smell when warm.

What could the gas smell inside the cabin be from? I've looked around and found nothing about a gas smell that's only present when the car has been driven a lot that day. It takes about 50 miles of constant driving for the smell to show up and the longer I drive it the worse the smell gets. It seems to be coming from the rear of the vehicle.

This is my project for the coming winter - solving the gas smell. Hopefully just old hoses and not a tank crack.

Open the rear hatch, pull back the carpet, and see if the thick pad that covers the gas sender has moved or deteriorated.
