Default thermostat temperature rating

I need to replace my thermostat and the work will not be the issue. For me I never really know what is a good temperature for the thermostat to open. When shopping for a new thermostat I notice there are many different options to the temperature rating on to when the thermostat will open. Any thoughts on to what is best or recommended by Porsche?

Since our cars tend to run hot, a lot of like to put in the low temp thermostat and fan switch (71*). It seems Wahler has had quality issues of late.

I was thinking about going to a low temp but I decided to go with the next thermostat up. It says it is a 180° rating. Hopefully it'll cool her down a bit.

944's don't run hot if everything works as intended.
The stock radiator and fans are more than sufficient...if you are running hot, you have a problem somewhere, plain and simple. Unless you live in the desert where it is regularly over 100 degrees? (When I lived in such a place I solved my "warm running" issue by adding an external oil cooler)

T-stat temperature doesn't really do anything, but fan switch will. T-stat just means the minimum temp inside the engine before the radiator sees circulation, but doesn't set any "ceiling".
Running the fans longer will work though.
