Default 16v chip in 8v dme?

I have a running 8v 2.5L, when I swap on a 16v head and all nessessary mechanical parts, can I just put in a 16v performance chip in my 8v dme?

Are injectors and air meters the same?

Thanks in advance!
Pete

no, the DMEs and chips are totally different.
the only similarity between the 8v and 16v DME, is the word "MOTRONIC" on the box.

injectors and AFM are very different too.

although i don't really see a reason you couldn't run the 16v head with the 8v dme.

Will the dme swap out with the same harness? Is the 8v 2.5L and 16v 2.5L same injectors and same air meter?

I have a megasquirt for it but I want to get it running before I 'squirt it.

no, injectors and AFM are different too.
even the fuel pressure regulator is different.
944S DME will not plug into the 8v harness - the 944S has a lot more pins on a larger plug. 944S DME is a whole nother generation of Motronic computer vs the older 944-8v DME.

it might be easier to say...
the only things a 944S engine has in common with the 944-8v NA:
1) cylinder block/accessories
2) crankshaft/connecting rods
3) clutch disk
4) reference sensor (x1)
