Default New Clutch Advice

I have a 84' N/A and I'm looking to put a new clutch on it. Want something bit more sporty. Looking at a stage 1 or 2 clutch. I have found some in mind and a couple I have not heard of. Anyone know of Luk and SPEC? Any suggestions on a clutch?

My opinion. If you have a stock HP car, you don't need a heavy clutch. Save the muscle in you left leg, especially in a street car. I race a Turbo in a prepared class, with more HP than stock, and have used a Stage 1 Spec clutch for the last 5 or 6 years. It's still going strong.

What Hal said.

You'd be much better off spending your $500 on a set of Bilstein or Koni dampers...or a set of M030 sways.

I'm planning on putting a turbo before the end of the year. Should I get a stage 1 or wait till I get the turbo on?

You really probably don't want to turbo this car.
If you bought a turbo engine for this car and upgraded everything else accordingly along with brakes that would work.
If you want a turbo best to buy one unless you are willing to spend a good amount of money and are willing to do the work yourself.

If you still want to turbo your n/a read this: http://roguetuning.com/944na_internals_-_the_limit

Also read this:https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-944-951-968-forum/652048-can-i-convert-a-na-944-to-a-turbo.html

Don't be discouraged but be realistic. If I were you I would do what I did. Fix up my n/a. Get it running perfectly.

Buy a turbo a year or two later. That n/a is a great car when running right. You will also learn the "944 basics" with it.
Can you post pictures of the car? How long have you had it?

i see people still want to turbo their N/A. Put it in simple terms there are so many different things from a 951 and 944 NA. Compression of pistons brake size transmission especially if it doesn't have a LSD etc. Not worth it

That the goal for right now is to restore it. The turbo was a maybe depending on how I like the way she runs when I have her restoration finished. I just pulled the motor last night and am in the process of rebuilding it/cleaning it. I decided not to go with a stage 1 clutch. I bought a OEM Exedy clutch and will be installing that tonight. Throwing a turbo on would be a pain in the butt and extremely expensive considering the engine rebuild is expensive as is.

Has anyone tried to get more hp/tq out their 944 without making any major changes to the motor like boring or porting. Things like that.

Later cam helps I think.
My 83 is stock and I beat my friends civic si k series from a dig and on the fly. Have higher top end too. Gear limited though.
That's pretty good stock. Not blowing anyone away but it's good.
My turbo...Well the turbo can spoil you with some minor changes.

Definitely work on your n/a. It's not a power demon but it fights above its weight class.
