Back License Plate of a 944
Whats the deal with some 944's that have their back plate relocated down to the bumper as opposed to them being in the center between the two tail lights? The 944 I will be getting has the plate relocated to the bottom and a lighted plastic piece with the word "Porsche" has been placed where the original plate was. I am talking about the picture below. Was this a factory option? I dont like it..Is it easy to put it back the way it was?

That center lens was an aftermarket item. Porsche stopped the aftermarket guys for awhile with trademark lawsuits but that effort ended and the lenses have returned to the market.
To remove you are going to have some screw holes to bondo up and paint. And maybe some corrosion to clean up. Then you need to do something about the holes they drilled in the bumper for the plate bracket. That is an aluminum bumper so to patch it up correct you need to treat the metal.

I Like the lighted cover in the middle, i like how it brings the tailights together into one large rectangle
mine is like that, and I think it's a bit cooler than the liscense plate in the center, its add a bit of continuity to the rear... I dunno, i just like it! and it lets everyone know what it is, especially when lit up at night..
