While other series may use weight to try to equalize cars, we are lookin to have EQUAL cars.
By keeping to that idea it makes things much simpler and easier for drivers and the organization. Unfortunatly there are not that many 944S out there. This was started in part because we KNEW how many cheap 8V 944s therewere laying around. We figured that because of this we could put together a series just for these cars.

since the 89 8v car is 2.7L it is NOT included. 16v cars were also not included.

Not much I can say other than keep the S for the street and get #3k 8v car for 944-spec.

How would it look to be beated at your home track by a guy who has NEVER Raced, Driven or even SEEN Willow Springs in the flesh, not to mention did his first race in April of 2002!

If do beat you I think you have some 'splanin' to do.

So I'd be happy with second place!
At least I won't get lapped in a 20 min race like I did to you at PIR!

BTW.. 8 other guys! Great work Tim!

Talking

Guys,
How many people are in this race???
Tim,
I think since none of us have ever been on the track, you had better win or you will never hear the end of it!!!
Remember we were gracious enough to do lead- follow to get up to speed at PIR.
I am a slow learner so you two don't have anything to worry about from me : )

No fair, no fair! And I already told you it was rude to lap your out of town guests! Let the smack talk begin! But you know, that's part of the entertainment of this series. That's why I call it, "The Show." The close racing, the well-prepared cars, the personalities, the smack talk..............it's a show.
In my defense regarding the being lapped thing, my car was 3 or 4 secs slower than yours. I bought it on Tues., raced it on Sat. Yadda, yadda. AND I had a massive spin in the turn 1-2 complex. I waw trying so hard to make the car go quickly. They finally gave me a rolled black flag. Remember the wipers that I couldn't shut off! Not my day...................
It was a blast though!! And you can bet I'll be back to race with the Phoenix 944-spec group asap.

You know what they say Tim... "Excuses are like A$$%#$#S...Everyone's Got them and they all STINK!"

You know this smack talk is kind of fun!

Anyway..... I think we will have a good time at Willow!... And Tim .. You will be faster than us. And you may even lap some of us... But that is ok! We will just get even when you guys come to Arizona Motorsports Park!

I have a couple dumb questions. Are these cars streetable? I see mention of roll cages, which I would not want to use on the street. Are they required, vs. just a roll bar? Having to get a trailer and tow vehicle puts this out of the realm of possibility for me.

They can easily remain street legal, albeit probably not a daily driver. Tim drives his to the races. I think the stiff suspension and race seats detracts more from street driving than does the roll cage - yes you need a cage.

Though another problem may be getting insurance. If the insurance company requires an inspection, they probably won't give you a policy - even just liability coverage.

Yeah, my taping came out pretty well, too. Though the sunny exterior wasn't as clear as the dark interior. Also, the wide angle lens made everything look farther away. It was some close racing! Much closer than it looks in the video.
It was great to have 5 944-spec cars at Willow and even better to have the SoCal and Phoenix groups mixing. We have the best 944 racing and it's only going to get better.

my Best Times were in the 1:40's on the Sunday warm-up. Durign the races times varried on Saturday since many of us (all except Tim) were learning the track. My best was a 1:40.7, Tim was in the 1:41 range and a few 1:43 & 1:44's for Paul and Glenn.

In sunday's race Tim got a 1:40.x and us Phoenix guys ran 1:41's best laps. I ran solid 1:41's during the race and edge Tim out at finish line by 1 sec. I was happy to see my buds from Phoenix get in to the 1:41's. It was their best times of the weekend.
It was Dave's first race his Spec Car and he had some difficultyies on Saturday. He coudl only get 1:55's He did not feel comfortable in the car. We softened his sway bars as much as we could and he got significantly fast run a 1:45 in the morning practice. He ran 1:44's in the race. This was right where Paul and Glenn were on Saturday so he is really doing pretty well. I figure his next time out he will be in the 1:41-1:42 range.

M758, what was your best time for the whole weekend? Mine was a 1:40.528 on the last lap of the weekend. Which one of us has the 944-spec track record at Willow Springs?!
