car shakes violently at idle
when I first start my car in the morning, my 84 944 seems to shake very rappidly. It will sometimes go away but will return when I have come to a complete stop at idle. What could be the problem?

The motor mounts might also be shot. I know my car shook like a top fuel dragster at idle and low rpm. Replaced the motor mounts last weekend and it almost feels like the car is off it idles so smooth now..

84Red, where are you, cold weather already? Early 944s have a idle stabilizer, and later ones have an idle control valve. If its sticking, it could cause your symptoms. Mine would start rough like that , and if I tapped on it with a screwdriver, it would resume normal idle. I replaced mine and all is well.
