Default Huge brakes for the 944S same as 928S?

I just fitted a 928S ('84) with 13" rotors, using the stock calipers , which are more than capable to work in a racing environment. However, im not sure the 944 shares the same rotor as the 928S . its the single piston caliper version tha the gen 2 928S' had.

If so, the adapter kit we might make a smalll manufacturing run with, will allow you to bolt on 13" rotors (330mm) to the stock et up, without the need to buy new calipers. adapters are required and centering rings for the stock rotors that would be used from another porsche /VW model.

of course, if the rotor is different in offset, we might be able to make the adapter to fit the 944 specifically.

So, 944 folks. get me up to speed on the brake set ups of the stock 944s. I understand that the 944T uses the S4 928 brake system, so im assuming that the earlier cars used the same rotor and caliper package.

this woud give you a huge increase in braking capacity.11" to 13" rotors!

Just testing the waters her to get at least a run of 10 made for a 928 and 944 purchase.

Mark

no one can comment on if the rotors are the same on the 944 vs the 928S?
the calipers, though old, are work horses for the 944, 928 and a lot of M3 bmws . i would think this upgrade is the least expesive way to get big brakes for our cars. anyone interested?

Looking at PET, I think the 944S2 and 944 Turbo M030 options shared brake rotors with the 928S. Callipers on the M030 are 4 piston though, not single floating like the 928S.

Early 944s used really small pads and different rotors to the 928S.

arent the S2 single piston and the 951s the s4 rotors and calipers? (4 piston). thats kind of my question, as this mod can help the older style single piston calipers that mount axially.

S2 are 4 piston front and rear - same as 951. M030 option (S2 and 951) brakes were bigger 4 pistons/bigger rotors - I think these are the same as the S4 brakes but not sure. Neither S2 or 951 use single piston calipers.

S4 brakes are relatively small to begin with 12" rotors and the calipes are pretty small too, compared to big reds. but interesting enough, the pad is the same that is used in the F50 ferarri.

but, what is the smaller rotors of the s2? smalller calipers too? Im just confused about the smaller rotors and calipers. I thought one of the 944 models had the single piston calpers brakes and smaller rotors like the 928S, pre- 1986

Ok quick breakdown.
The 944 NA and S model had single piston calipers and smaller rotors. 84-89

The 944 S2 and 944turbo had four piston brembo's and larger rotors. 86-91

The M030 S2 and turbo cars had S4 calipers and larger rotors compared to regular 951/S2 cars. 87-91

That's what I was looking for, thanks.

so, do the S4s and M030 share the same rotors?

then, if so, are there aftermarket 2 piece rotors that are 330mm or larger?

I am not sure on the rotors, I think they are different due to wheel offset.

Forgive the potentially dumb question, but I'm looking into upgrading my brakes/rotors. I have an 85.5 NA 944 with a 16-in Fuch wheel. Would an S2 4-piston setup with a 13-inch rotor fit inside my fuchs?

Thanks for the insight.
