Default 944MAX for early NA update

Hello,

A number of you have inquired about the possiblity of a 944MAX chip for the early NA cars. We're in luck. A fellow lister (you can speak up if you like) and I have been discussing it and together we are going to put together a path for you. He will modifiy the ECUs to accept a socketed chip, and you will swap ECUs as a core when you make the purchase. Don't have an idea on the final price yet. The chips of course will be like any other NA chip, 175.00 retail, 150.00 on initial promotion. He does not yet know what he needs to charge for the actual conversion process. So you would order, and include a deposit on the core. When you receive the unit you will send us your old one for conversion. I already have the early stock code and will begin the 944MAX development/testing process right away as he already has several converted ECUs.

I'll post more updates as they become available.

Regards,
Russell

Any ideas what kind of numbers these chips might put down?

Russell,
I am interested, but I already bought a late 944 DME (87') and matching AFM for my 84' 944. Are the later 944 chips ready yet?
Do you know if my early injectors would need to be changed the later ones?...the early 944 injectors flow just a tad more fuel. I can get specifics if you need.

All the NA chips are at about the same phase of development, and moving along. In the case of the injector flow issues, I'm keeping the factor FQS settings of +3%,-3%,+6% so I would suggest using the FQS position 2 (starting at zero) to deliver -3% less fuel to compensate for the higher flow rate. But it will also depend on what octane fuel you are running. If you can only get 91 or less, the added flow will be needed.

Russell

Hi Russ, the early vs. late flow ratings (236.5 cc/min vs. 229 cc/min @ 3 bar). I am fortunate enough to have get 93 octane around here no problem. Would the -3% still be the way to go?
Thank you!
