First Parts Order…fail

First Parts Order…fail
We recently purchased an ‘88 S. The majority of large services items were completed by the previous owner’s shop and the only item that needs immediate attention are the engine compartment fuel lines. For some reason they were not replaced. Anyway, not being familiar with the 944s platform, and I was relying on 944online for guidance. The S lines seem to be very specific. The pic looked the part but what I received did not match. Did I screw up here or did they or ?? Both ends on both lines have screw-on fittings.

If yours is an 88 944S, then you need this:

Different than what you ordered.

You may want to download the Porsche parts and diagram list for the 944 ... go here and scroll down to where you can choose 944 and 85-88, which will download the parts and diagram list. Your engine is the M44.40 which, for the fuel lines, has specific diagrams (illustrations # 107-45 and 201-15).

Yes, that return line needs a regular hose with no fitting, there's a barb on the damper. Given that you don't need to use any special PTFE hose or anything, it's super simple to make that particular line. You can reuse the original fitting from where the line terminates at the side of the engine bay (it's a somewhat rare inverted globe seal), or get a replacement, along with some fuel line, from BelMetric:
Adaptor for hardline to fuel tank: https://belmetric.com/metal-polyamid...8%2F14X1.5POLY
Polyamide hose: https://belmetric.com/cohline-series...-plastic-hose/
You'd probably also want a nicer covering for that line, but you could probably reuse the original insulation.
Cheers
