Running on 1 cylinder? No spark to other 3 spark plugs
Recently, my 86 NA 944 has been running horribly. It went from uneven cylinder firing to now running on just cylinder #2. Fuel injectors are not clogged, and the spark plugs are good (new). Does anyone know what could cause this? Could a speed/reference sensor cause this?
Parts replaced
-distributor cap and rotor
-tested with different ignition coil
-new spark plug wires
-new spark plugs

Speed reference sensor can also cause this but I would suggest a few other things:
1) Do a compression test to confirm you have good compression across all cylinders (remove any bent valves or poor compression from the equation)
2) confirm spark plug wire configuration and firing order, are the wires in the correct spots?
3) If you suspect speed/reference sensor, read through this, check resistance: http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/ign-02.htm
