Rear Fitment on 85.5
I have an 85.5 944 with Fuchs 15 inch wheels (I beleive the ones with ET23 in front and ET11 in rear) and the fitment in the front is perfect with tire being flush with fender while the rear is really sunken in. What kinda spacer setup should I go with to bring them out? Is there a factory spacer that is supposed to be on the rear wheels?

Get a digital caliper and measure the gap from the edge do the tire to the innner fender lip and deduct 2mm for clearance. If 20mm or larger get the type of spacer that attaches to the existing studs and provides new studs to mount the wheel. Make sure they have the hub-centric centering flange and it has to be 71.6mm exactly.

If you have factory wheels and a huge gap, yours probably had the factory spacers. I'd measure though as you can get the exact width you want for the stance and look.

What about the factory 15mm spacers? IIRC there was a period in between changing the wheel offsets where they used spacers i’m not sure if my year should have them or
not.
not.
The other thing to look for is if you have the right size rims, the Fuchs are staggered 7" and 8". Hard to tell by picture if yours are.

My 85.5 can with 15 by 7/8 staggered Fuchs and the offsets are 23.3 front and 11 rear.
However as they had identical 215/60 tires front and rear, the PO rotated them front to rear (if you can believe it) with the 8 in front and the 7 in the rear.
This might be what happened with your 944.
You can see the wacky "inset" in the pics of my car when it was delivered:

Stock spacers
Glad it worked out!
My 944 has the stock spacers. It could use another 15 or 20mm for a stronger look but I went to 951 16s which work just fine for me.
