Default Front end issues ????

Ok let me start out by saying I am new to the renlist as well as to porsche.
I have always liked these cars but never until recently never owned one.
I bought this car for $1000.00, it has 140,000 on it now and the motor still seems to run really strong.
The car had a few issues when I bought it. The rear end of the car made loud poping noises which ended up being a combination of a bad inner passenger side wheel berring, warped and pitted rear roters, remainders of a broken break spring, and a bad passenger side CV all of which have been corrected thanks to reading this list. (Thanks)
Now I have turned my attention to the front end which has a slight wobble at speeds in excess of 60 MPH (I know, I know! I had to do it at least once!)
So far I have completely replaced the passenger side controll arm, Ball joint, and all related bushings including the sway bar bushings.
I have thoughrouly checked the driver side and everything is tight.
The one thing I did notice is that the steering rods seem to have play at the connection to the steering rack. I would guess about 1/16th" to 1/8th".
I am hopeing that someone will tell me that this can be corrected without having to replace the entire rack????

The car is also in need of an alignment and new rubber which will happen after I have fixed the other front end issues.

Welcome!

From the foto the car looks like an 83-85(early) car. Correct?

You can replace the inner and outer tie rod ends, they are cheap from www.paragon-products.com.

Two other things to check for:

1. Upper strut bearings. When these go bad, they cause some wobble at speed and under heavy braking.

2. Bent wheel. I had a bent wheel that did the exact same thing.

Good luck!

Sweet That was what I was hopeing to hear.... It is the inner ones that are bad, the outers are ok but at 71.00 ea Ill just replace the entire assembly on both sides and call it good.

Yea its an 84 I thought I had put that in but I guess not.

I am pretty sure its not a bent rim. Im thinking its a mixture of the tie rods, alignment (Which I know is out), and ar least one out of round tire.
Thanks for the tip on paragon.

Ok now for another question, Has anyone repaired the hatch cover window frame???? The top of mine (Part nearest the hinges) has come apart from the window.
I have been told by a less than knowledgable person that the hatch may be an encapsulated window. (Frame put on at the factory and not replaceable aside from replacing the entire unit window and all)???

I have the same problem, leaking water. You can see that there are some options if you read that thread.
