Question Idle Issues: Could it be this hose?

I've been having some idle issues in my '90 S2. When I first start the car, it idles high (~1200rpm?) for a minute or so before coming back down. After a few minutes of driving, whenever I come to a stop and idle the rpms will sometimes be really low, less than 500. Other times it will "bounce" from almost stalling to 750 or so over and over again, at a rate of about one "bounce" per second. The inconsistency of sometimes just low and sometimes bouncy is very confusing. I've done some research, and I'm hoping it's not the ICM and just a vaccum leak. I thought I heard a hiss somewhere in the driver's side front of the engine bay on a cold start, and I found this rubber hose looking a bit rough. It's the one against the intake manifold. Is this hose a vacuum line, and could it be causing the idle issues? If so, what hose should I buy to replace it? I know Lindsey Racing sells a vaccum hose kit with about 20 feet of tubing and some connections, would that be a good choice to go and start replacing a bunch of lines, including this one?

Thank you!

It's been a while since I had an S2, but I'm pretty sure that's a fuel line.

The Lindsey kit is good and well worth it.

I can't opine on the idle issue but that hose is creeping me out; it does not look long for this world. Please, for all that is good and healthy, replace that thing and save your car from a fiery doom.

Good luck

That's a high pressure fuel hose - you'll want to fix that ASAP.

Your wandering idle sounds like the Idle control valve under the intake is leaking either internally or one of its hoses is aged.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll get it replaced as soon as I can. Would you have any recommendations on where to get them? I know Lindsey racing has a set, these are the fuel damper lines, correct?

Hey I’m having the same issues you are having the the extremely rough and high idle. How did you end up fixing?
