Default porsche 944 m44/10 vs. m44/07 engine block

I have a 1986 Porsche N/A that recently had that pesky #2 rod grenade the lower half of the engine. The block that was in the car is a m44/10 coded engine with an auto tensioner, and from what I can gather it's actually a 1987 motor, and 1986's didn't have the auto tensioner. There's a m44/07 coded engine that i've got my eye on but i'm still unclear about a few things. The m44/07 has the manual timing belt tensioner, but is it still a late model block minus the bosses for the auto tensioner? What parts from my m44/10 engine wouldn't fit on the m44/07 engine? Will my DME and wiring harness be plug and play?

PS: I know there's already articles on engine identification and differences, but I see conflicting information, and the guy who's selling the motor doesn't know what year car it is out of. Thank you for your time.

wiring and DME will interchange no problem.
essentially the only differences between the 86 and 87+ blocks are the belt tensioner (even the belt is still the same) and the oil pressure relief valve - you need the OPRV that matches the block *86 with 86, 87 with 87).

Isn't a 44/10 an auto from 1988...?

If so, higher compression and way less abused.

yeah different sites have it as different years, which is what I meant by conflicting information. I'm not really sure what year my engine is from but i'm fairly confident it was the higher compression engine, but at this point i'm not really sure.

The bearings for the balance shafts are different diameters from the 86 to the later blocks.
