Default 86.5 Pod Project

So essentially, procrastination breeds efficiency... if one waits long enough to repair something. Other things will fail and you can solve a lot of issues at once right?

I lost the odometer gear function a few months ago. I put that off, but now it's time. I plan on hitting a lot of stuff while I'm in there.

I need to work on the absent left turn signal cancel.
I have a new ignition switch that I will be putting in finally.
Intensive washer button has fallen apart and will be replaced.
After reading Wayne's write-up, I just decided to just get a new printed circuit, which is coming from Roger.
For the pod itself, I have a new Bob Budd cover.

I was in there several years ago to clean contacts and replace bulbs. But I still have plenty of bounce on some needles, and the oil pressure stays pegged -- until of course it's been run hot and brake pedal used.

I also have a one volt difference between the voltage gauge and the CE.
The tach reads about 75 RPM too high.
I could go on...

I assume that I have issues outside of the cluster too, but I'm not ready to replace any harnesses yet.
I will get some pics up as we go.
How about some pearls of wisdom from my shark-brothers ahead of time?
Cheers.

The voltage gauge has a little adjustment screw you can access if you pull the gauge...just set it to match reality. That's the easy one :-)

Just be prepared for when you re-install the pod (after all your repairs are done) that the stuff you repaired works but now other stuff don't work, like the pod lights all of a sudden goes dark on you (not all the bulbs are now lit).

Ok fine, yeah I'm venting ☠@✴#ing . But be prepared. Just saying!

Jeff, that's awesome. How did I not know that?!

Ahhhh yes, fully prepared Fred...

I too, know the bitter, metallic tang of bile as my work goes sideways.

Step one: nausea
Step two: fury
Step three: apathy
Step Four: acceptance
Step Five: financial hit, see step one...

Only one tricky area getting the printed circuit on, making the fold and getting the tabs back in on the center multi-tab was a pita.

I re finished the console in grey which fits with the other interior work. I also hope it will increase the ambient light somewhat. I did not do LEDs this time but did redo the mirrors for the light set up.
